Fall Photos

Every year (that we've been here) since Evi was a year and a half old, I've taken the kids out to take pictures of them playing in the fall leaves in the park at the end of our street. I made an attempt at it again yesterday. But Evi wasn't feeling it for some reason. And then after one picture, the batteries went dead in my camera. So this is what we got.

In fiecare toamna (cat am fost aici in Berea) de cand Evi avea un an si jumatate, am facut poze cu copiii jucandu-se in frunze intr-un parc mic la capatul strazii noastre. Am incercat sa fac asta ieri din nou. Dar Evi nu prea vroia--nu stiu de ce. Si dupa ce am facut o singura poza, s-au terminat bateriile in aparatul meu. Am ramas doar cu asta...

Paper Trail

This is what Samuel's been doing today. Cutting everything in sight. Maybe he's a little too young to try out the scissors, but he's doing a pretty good job at it. And he's really into it. We had little papers all over the house for a while today.

And the mess in the background is what I've been doing--reorganizing the kids' clothes--getting ready for fall and winter!

Sitting Up

Just yesterday I said that Daniel wasn't sitting up. But today that's changed. Although he's had a couple tumbles backwards, he is holding himself up really well and sitting for several minutes at a time. Here's the proof.

Chiar ieri am spus ca Daniel nu stie sa stea pe fund. Dar azi a invatat. A cazut in spate de cateva ori, dar se tine bine in sus. Jos sunt poze ca dovada.

And here are the last of the pictures from San Diego. The baby didn't get out quite as much. But, as you see, we did put his feet in the ocean for a few seconds. I think he would've liked to sit and play in the sand. But since he can't sit up yet, that didn't happen.

Today I'm posting pictures and a short clip of Evi on vacation. She had such a good time, and on our drive home from the airport she even demanded that we send her back to California.

And here's the clip of Evi playing on the beach. It's a little wobbly because I was holding a squirmy baby and I couldn't see well because of the bright sun. Anyway, you can tell she was having a very good time--completely lost in her play.

Back to Life

It's our first day back. We had a long day of travel yesterday, and now we have some jet lag. But we're all right. We're getting back to the reality of our everyday lives. The time in San Diego was great--very busy, but very good. It was so nice to be together with family again. (We sure do miss our Romania family, though!) Daniel turned five months old yesterday. Here's a sweet picture of my sweet boy at the beach. Poor Evi cried almost the whole drive home from the airport last night--three and a half hours. She really misses her everyone. And Samuel talked about Nana's house all day today. When we went out to get groceries that's where he thought we were going. My sweet little ones.

Este prima noastra zi acasa. Am calatorit toata ziua ieri, si acum suntem obositi si de la "jetlag." Dar facem bine. Ne-am intors la realitatea vietilor noastre. Am avut un timp foarte bun in California--foarte ocupat dar si foarte bun. A fost foarte frumos sa vedem pe familia mea din nou. (Ne-e dor mai tare de voi acum!) Daniel are cinci luni acum. Am atasat o poza cu el--foarte scump. Saraca de Evi--a plans aproape tot drumul pana acasa de la aeroport--cam trei ore jumate. I-e dor de toti. Si Samuel a spus toata ziua azi ca merge acasa la mama mea. Cand am plecat de acasa sa facem niste cumparaturi a crezut ca ne intoarcem acolo. Ce scumpi sunt copiii mei!

Still in San Diego

Just a quick update. We're still on vacation. This is our last day in San Diego. We fly out early tomorrow morning. It's been a very busy but fun week with the family. And we had a wonderful time being part of such a beautiful (and fun) wedding last night. We're so happy for Leah and our new brother-in-law/uncle Mike. I'll post some pictures from our trip when we get home.

Vreau sa scriu putin acum. Mai suntem in vacanta. Este ultima noastra zi in San Diego, California. Plecam maine dimineata. Am avut un timp foarte ocupat dar frumos aici cu familia mea. Si am facut parte dintr-o nunta foarte frumoasa aseara. Ne bucuram foarte mult pt. sora mea Leah si cumnatul/unchiul nostru nou Mike. O sa pun cateva poze pe blog dupa ce ne intoarcem acasa.

Counting down...

Here's a picture of Samuel. He's feeling better today. He was watching some Tom and Jerry here. Today we got a few snacks and other little things for the trip. Three and a half hours to Nashville. Then a flight to Atlanta and then the longer one to San Diego. I hope the kids do well! Evi is so excited. She started counting down last week.

In sfarsit am o poza cu Samuel. Se simte mai bine azi. Se uita la Tom si Jerry cand i-am facut poza. Azi am cumparat niste "snacks-uri" (asa spunem eu si Nelu) si alte lucruri mici pt. calatorie. Trebuie sa mergem cu masina trei ore jumate pana la Nashville, Tennessee. Apoi mergem cu avionul la Atlanta, si apoi avem un zbor mai lung pana la San Diego. Sper ca copiii sa faca bine! Evi abia asteapta. A inceput acum o saptamana sa numere zilele care mai sunt pana plecam.

Three more days!

Boy, have we been busy! I can breathe a sigh of relief for the moment, though. My paper that's due next Tuesday is actually done, as of this afternoon. I'm going to hand it in this Tuesday since we'll be gone when it's due. Anyway, it's very nice to have that taken care of. I've also been working and trying to keep up with the kids. Here are some recent pictures of two of them. I don't have new ones of sweet Samuel, who's now got a stomach bug. But I'll get some soon. Just three more days and we'll be heading to California!

Am fost foarte ocupati in ultima vreme! Dar ma simt putin usurata acum. Am terminat lucrarea mea pe care trebuia s-o dau peste doua saptamani, dar pt. ca n-o sa fim aici trebuie s-o dau martia asta. Am lucrat mult la ea in ultimile zile, si ma bucur ca am reusit s-o termin. Am si muncit in ultima vreme, si incerc si sa stau mai mult cu copiii. Jos sunt cateva poze cu doi dintre ei. N-am nimic nou cu Samuel (care este de fapt bolnav acum). Dar o sa pun poze cu el in curand. Mai avem trei zile si plecam in California!

Sick, sick, sick

In the past three weeks we've had four bouts of pink eye, three colds, two very sore throats, and one ear infection. We seem to be getting over everything now. But I guess this is the season. I think we'll all be getting flu shots this year, seeing that we can't seem to keep away from anything! I know things could be worse, so I'm thankful it's been just this. But I sure am looking forward to healthier days!

In ultimile trei saptamani noi am avut de patru ori conjunctivita, de trei ori raceala, de doua ori durere la gat, si o data o infectie la ureche. Cred ca ne revenim acum. Asa merge pt. noi la toamna. Cred ca o sa luam vaccinuri pt. gripa in anul asta, pt. ca nu scapam de nimic, se pare! Stiu ca putea sa fie mai rau, deci ma bucur ca am experimentat doar atat. Dar in acelasi timp, abia astept perioada cand suntem mai sanatosi!

Poor Baby

Daniel is sick. At the doctor yesterday we found out that he has an ear infection and pink eye in both eyes. Great. Poor little guy. I knew something was wrong, even though he never had a fever. He's got medicine now, so he's getting back to his normal self. I hate to see my babies sick!

Here's a clip of Daniel laughing. He loves Evi and will just laugh for no reason at her. Here you can hear that she's working on making him laugh. You'll have to excuse our messy house. It's just another thing to keep up with these days, and we're not doing the greatest job of it.

Daniel este bolnav. Am aflat ieri la doctorita ca are o infectie la ureche si la amandoi ochi. Saracu de el! Stiam ca are ceva, chiar daca n-a avut febra. Dar are medicament acum, si-si revine. Nu-mi place cand se imbolnavesc copiii mei!

Aici este un video cu Daniel razand. O iubeste pe Evi, si rade mereu la el. Aici poti s-o auzi--incearca sa-l faca sa rada. Trebuie sa ne scuzati pt. casa noastra si ce dezastru este. Avem foarte multe lucruri de facut acum, si facut curatenie in casa nu este primul lucru pe lista noastra.

Life

I haven't written lately because I haven't had the time. And I really don't right now either, but I'm going ahead with it. Nelu and I are just trying to keep up with everything going on right now, trying to keep it all together. My school and work are drowning me....and those aren't the only things that need to be done. Such is the life of an adult, I guess. Off I go now. One of these days I'll post a video, because I've got some cute ones....That'll have to be after this my big paper is handed in.

N-am scris in ultima vreme pt. ca n-am avut timp. De fapt, nici acum n-am timp, dar vreau sa scriu putin oricum. Eu si Nelu ne chinuim sa facem fata acum....Ma simt ca ma scufund in toate lucrurile mele de facut pt. scoala si munca--si mai sunt si alte lucruri de facut in afara de astea. Dar asa este sa fii adult. Intr-o zi o sa pun un video, pt. ca am cateva video-uri dragute....Dar trebuie sa astept pana dupa ce termin lucrarea mea pt. scoala saptama asta.

Break

Evi is on fall break from school this week. She's had lots of time to play with the neighbor boys who are homeschooled and who have been her friends since she was born. She has spent a good deal of time with Nelu--riding bikes, playing in the woods down the road with her brothers and him, and jumping on the trampoline. She's got Danish gymnastics today--very different from the conventional type. And she's even got a little part in the church Christmas musical, so she's been working on her lines. Our little girl is getting busy and growing up all too fast.

Evi are vacanta de toamna saptamana asta. A avut mult timp saptamana asta sa se joace cu baietii de peste strada cu care este prietena de cand s-a nascut. A avut mult timp sa petrece cu Nelu--s-au plimbat cu bicicleta, s-a jucat in padure aproape de casa noastra cu el si cu fratii ei, si a sarit pe trambolina. Merge si la gimnastica daneza azi--care este foarte diferita ca gimnastica care se face in Romania. Chiar si face parte din sceneta pt. Craciun la biserica noastra, deci trebuie sa-si invete partea ei de vorbit. Fetita noastra devine din ce in ce mai ocupata cu activitatile ei, si creste prea repede pt. noi!
